It’s hot in the kitchen

By Brénna Walsh

North Belfast residents will be cooking up a storm after getting new kitchens as part of a Housing Executive scheme costing over £400,000.

The 97 homes included in the scheme are a mixture of houses, bungalows and flats and are located in Ashfield Court and Gardens, Glandore Gardens and Parade, Grays Court and Lane, Glasgow Street and Skegoneill Drive.

The tenants will be able to select their own units, worktop and tiles from a range of options and electrical and plumbing installations will also be upgraded to cater for modern day appliances.

Tenants will also be provided with a new cooker hood, floor covering and extractor fan.

Marion Wilson, one of the lucky tenants, said: “Like everyone else I seem to spend a lot of time in the kitchen so I was delighted when I heard I was getting a new one.

“I just love it! It’s so modern and because I was able to pick the units, worktops and tiles it reflects my own personality and taste.

“The workmen were brilliant and I would like to say a big thank you to them and the Housing Executive for giving me such a good start to the New Year.”
