Going to: Glasgow University to study Medicine.

He said: "I am delighted with my results. I got the grades I was aiming for and I studied really hard for them.

"I needed three As to do the course I wanted, so I am delighted that I have been accepted by Glasgow University where I will study Medicine."

Going to: Glasgow University to study Medicine.

He said: "I checked on the UCAS site and saw I had been accepted by Glasgow University so I came into school to see what my results were and I am over the Moon with them.

"I am going to study medicine which is a five-year course and at £9,000 a year fees I realised I will have quite a lot of debt by the time I graduate."

William Watson (19), Waterside

A-levels: Maths B, Physics B, Music B.

Going to: Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh to study Mechanical Engineering

He said: "I am a bit disappointed that I got a B in Maths because I was aiming for an A but I just missed out on that by a few points.

"I am going to Heriot-Watt University which is outside Edinburgh to study Mechanical Engineering.

"This is a five-year course but one of these is on placement. Heriot Watt have schools in Dubai and Malaysia and part of the offer is the opportunity to study at one of these other schools. It is a fantastic opportunity to travel and I am really looking forward to that."
