James Nesbitt not in frame for Jekyll and Hyde movie

By Staff Reporter

A TV series starring Northern Ireland's own James Nesbitt is getting a reboot and coming to the big screen.

Jekyll will undergo the movie treatment, but Nesbitt is not in the frame to reprise his role, despite being nominated for a Golden Globe for best performance by an actor in a mini-series or motion picture made for television for his roles as both characters.

The drama, based on Robert Louis Stevenson's novella The Strange Case Of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, is being developed by Lionsgate.

The one-off Jekyll series ran for six episodes in 2007 and was widely praised for its fast-paced, scary and clever plot design.

It revolved around Dr Tom Jackman, played by Nesbitt, who is forced to isolate himself from his wife and their two young sons when it becomes evident he has developed a dangerous side.

A cast for the movie is yet to be found, so maybe there is still time for Nesbitt to snap up the role.
