People are being asked to fight dementia by signing up for an Alzheimer's Society GLOW walk in Belfast this month.

The night-time event at the Titanic Quarter on March 6 encourages people to dress up with glow sticks, glitter and neon to shine a light on dementia.

Among those taking part is 17-year-old Jay Young, from Magherafelt, who will be walking in memory of Beth Hassan (84), who fought the disease before passing away last year.

Jay was very close to Beth and worked at the nursing home where she lived in the final five years of her life.

He said: "I have watched a loved one suffer and I know what it is like for a family to watch them suffer."
