Jennifer Dornan murder probe police keen to trace small silver car seen speeding away from scene

By Staff Reporter

A small silver car seen speeding away from the scene of the murder could be the key to finding the killer of Jennifer Dornan.

Ms Dornan had been on a night out with friends in the popular Devenish complex in the hours before she died, police revealed last night.

After leaving the Finaghy Road North pub at around 1.30am on Sunday, she had gone to a friend's house, returning at 3am on foot to her own home in Hazel View.

Detective Superintendent Kevin Geddes of Serious Crime Branch, who is leading the investigation, said: "Following the results of a post mortem, Jennifer's death has been declared a murder.

"It goes without saying that her family are devastated - firstly by the news of her death, and now the added heartbreak of knowing that this was a murder.

"Jennifer leaves behind three children, all under the age of nine.

"They don't understand what's happened to their mum.

"I am appealing for anyone who saw Jennifer in the bar on Saturday night or Sunday morning, or who saw her walking in the Hazel View area on Sunday morning between 3 and 4am, to come forward."

The police officer said he was particularly interested in hearing from anyone who had seen a small silver car speeding away from the Hazel View area early on Sunday morning.

The senior officer declined to say at this stage exactly how Ms Dornan had died.

The NI Fire and Rescue Service has not yet established how the fire started.

Anyone with information should call the police non-emergency number 101 and ask for detectives, or call anonymously using the Crimestoppers number 0800 555 111.
