By David Young

A man believed to have links to Northern Ireland has died in a jet-ski accident in France.

The victim was named locally as Igor Shtutin (41), a Russian man thought to be living in Northern Ireland.

The accident happened on Thursday at St Jean Cap Ferrat on the French Riviera, when Mr Shtutin's jet-ski rammed into a harbour wall at speed.

Emergency services raced to the scene, but could not save Mr Shtutin's life.

His son Michael (3), who was with Mr Shtutin on the jet-ski, was taken to the Lenval hospital in Nice where he was placed in intensive care.

Mr Shtutin's wife Marina is at their son's bedside in a hospital, in Nice, according to French media reports.
