Jewellery and cash stolen in series of Co Down burglaries

Jewellery and cash have been stolen in a series of burglaries in Co Down.

Yesterday, a house in the Cross Heights area of Rathfriland was broken into between 7.15am and 9.30pm and a quantity of jewellery and sum of cash was stolen.

Burglars also forced their way into to a house in Sleepy Valley, Rathfriland between 8pm and 10.15pm and to a house in Bovenett Heights, Loughbrickland between 6.45pm and 9.50pm. Jewellery and cash were also stolen in both burglaries.

Detectives believe that a further incident may be connected to these burglaries. Around 8.15pm a male travelling in a dark coloured car, possibly a Mondeo, was observed looking and searching around a house on Rathfriland Street, Loughbrickland.

The man drove off when he became aware of being observed. He is described as being approximately 6ft 1in tall with  short, fair hair. He was wearing a zip up coat and jeans.

Detectives would like to hear from anyone who has information which may assist their investigation and can be contacted on 101.

If you prefer to provide information without giving your details you can contact the independent crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
