Deborah and Edward Ward from Clough are celebrating the birth of their second child. Day nursery manager Deborah (28) and Edward (29), a site supervisor, welcomed Lola Marie Ward into the world on July 18 at 5.25am.
She weighed 8lbs 11oz on arrival at the Ulster Hospital in Dundonald six days later than expected.
"Our son Cain was two weeks over so at least it wasn't that long," Deborah said.
"I got to the hospital at 4am and she arrived very quickly."
Deborah recalled the moment she held her daughter for the first time and also described little Lola "as good as gold".
"I loved her," she said. "She's absolutely gorgeous. She's brilliant. She is sleeping all night. She is as good as gold. She looks very much like her daddy and her brother."
Big brother Cain (4) is also enjoying the new addition to the family.
"He loves her," Deborah said. "He says she is 'brilliant'."
The proud mum praised the staff at the Ulster Hospital for the high standard of care provided to her young family.
"They were very, very good," Deborah said. "Jocelyn and Lynn, a trainee student, were particularly helpful."
Since Lola's birth friends and family have been visiting the Wards' Co Down home and sending lots of lovely messages of congratulations.
"It has been flat-out," Deborah said. "Thanks to everyone for their support and kindness."
