Dawn and Ashley Briggs have welcomed a son into the world.

James William Briggs weighed 7lbs 13oz and measured 51cms when he was born at the Lagan Valley Hospital's midwife-led unit on November 23 at 10.12pm.

James is the second child for the couple from Moira.

"I was so excited and happy to see him," Dawn said.

"He looks so much like his daddy.

"He is so placid and doesn't really cry unless he needs his nappy changed or a bottle, so I have been quite lucky."

Care assistant Dawn (23) and Ashley (28), a painter and decorator, are grateful to the team at Lagan Valley Hospital for all their care and support.

"They were great," Dawn said.

"All very helpful. I really enjoyed the home-from-home experience at Lagan Valley.

"The girls were great and I didn't feel rushed at all."

Dawn and Ashley's daughter Ella (3) is adjusting to having a little brother in the house and tries to help her parents care for James.

"She was a little bit dodgy at the start but she is great now," Dawn said.

"She is trying to help me out as much as she can. She is great."

The Briggs have been inundated with messages of congratulations and visits from friends and family keen to meet and hold the new addition to the family.

"Thanks to everyone for being so kind," Dawn said.
