Just Married: A proposal in Mussenden... wedding in New Zealand

Danielle and JD Coulter from Portrush are enjoying married life following this sun-filled wedding earlier this month.

Danielle (21) is originally from New Zealand and JD (23) from Coleraine met through church and became friends.

"I really liked her and wanted to ask her out," JD said.

"It took me a couple of months to build up the courage to ask her.

"One winter's night I asked her out for coffee and she said no!

"She went back to New Zealand and when she came back here we went for a walk in Portstewart, I persuaded her to go on a date, and the rest is history."

The couple fell in love and became engaged in September 2014.

"I proposed to her at Mussenden Temple," JD said.

"I had set up fairy lights and tea lights, so scored some brownie points."

The couple married on March 8 in Pongakawa in New Zealand.

Their first dance was to Ed Sheeran song Thinking Out Loud.

"We had the whole day at a vintage venue called Old Forest School," JD said.

"We had an amazing day. While the bridal party were taking photos everyone else was having a picnic, playing games like croquet and volleyball and swimming too. It was all super, super, super cute."

The Coulters honeymooned in the Bay of Plenty.

"We went to a place called Waihi beach," JD said. "It was absolutely beautiful. Lots of sunshine and the beach was right beside the house."

Married life is "wonderful".

"We got home a couple of days ago," JD added. "It's all rather real in a really great way."
