Dazzling fireworks lit up the night sky over Belfast last night as the city's Monster Mash Halloween festival got under way at the Titanic Slipway.

Inspired by the Mexican Day of the Dead festival and the Diwali Festival of Lights, the event was the city's biggest fireworks display.

Crowds witnessed a glittering array of explosions high over the riverside venue, peppering the east Belfast skyline with a pulsing kaleidoscope of colour.

Crowds at the free-to-attend celebration were thrilled by performances from the South Asian Dance Academy, and specially choreographed routines from local Irish dance group Celtic Fusion.

There were also drum performances by Spark, Day of the Dead Folk dances, as well as slime and lantern-making workshops for kiddies - and a monster fairground for everyone to enjoy.
