Karren Brady puts a stop to online confusion that she is new Northern Ireland Secretary of State

Karren Brady has addressed those confusing her with the new Northern Ireland Secretary of State - Karen Bradley.

Since the appointment of new Northern Ireland Secretary of State Karren Brady has been mistaken for her online due to the similarities of their names.

Karren Brady took to Twitter after users confused the pair, but soon after realised their mistake.

The businesswoman, who is Lord Alan Sugar's right-hand woman on The Apprentice said: "This time last year people thought I was the Culture Secretary! Now they think I am the new Northern Ireland Secretary! Its Karen (with one R) Bradley (with a E)!"

Responding to the television personality's tweet, a number of followers took the opportunity to voice their thoughts on if she had been the newly appointed Northern Ireland Secretary and the devolved government.

Dympna Armitage replied: "It's a pity it's not you Karren, you would have been a good one to sort them out. Bet you would not stand for no work for the last year."

Alison McDowell commented that if Karren Brady had of been elected the new Secretary, along with fellow Apprentice adviser Claude Littner, she believes Stormont would be up and running: "Wishful thinking! If we had you and @claudelittner over in Northern Ireland we would definitely have Stormont up and running again!"

Martin McGowan responded: "I wish it would have been you Karren. I would have loved to see your facial expressions and hear some of your 'harsh but fair' comments to your politicians."
