Knife raider holds up Botanic Avenue shop

A man armed with a knife has robbed a convenience store in a busy south Belfast street.

The man man entered the Botanic Avenue shop yesterday at around 8.25am before escaping with cash and cigarettes in the direction of Queen's University. No one was injured in the incident.

A spokesman for the PSNI said: "The man is described as being aged in his late 20s or early 30s, approximately 5ft 9ins and of slim build. He was wearing a light grey hooded jacket with the hood up over a baseball cap. He was also wearing dark bottoms and white trainers.

"Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact CID on 0845 600 8000. Or if someone would prefer to provide information anonymously, they can contact independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
