Lady Boys of Bangkok Belfast audience sold watered-down vodka
The Northern Irish operators of The Lady Boys of Bangkok show in Belfast have been fined for selling watered-down vodka.
The prosecution followed a complaint from a customer who saw staff pouring water into Smirnoff bottles at the event at Custom House Square, on November 14 last year.
Belfast City Council officers who took formal sampling of the Smirnoff found that one sample had been watered down by about a third, and the other by almost two thirds.
The operators, Exchange Events Limited, with an address at Hightown Road, Newtownabbey, Co Antrim, were found guilty of supplying Smirnoff vodka less than the strength indicated and therefore not of the quality demanded.
They were fined £250 and ordered to pay court costs of £69 for the offence, which breached food safety legislation.
