Lagan Weir Bridge bottle attack: Police appeal to identify this man

Police have released an image of a man they would like to identify after a male had a glass bottle broken over his head near Lagan Weir Bridge in Belfast city centre.

The incident happened on Thursday 9 June 2016 near the SSE Arena side of the bridge at approximately 11:45pm.

Constable Martin said: "The male is described as being around 18 years of age, 5’ 8” tall, of stocky build with dark hair and was wearing a white tennis shirt with a lined pattern on it.

"We believe that he left the incident, on foot crossing the Lagan Weir Bridge as part of a group of approximately seven males and females around the same age.

"We are again appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who may know the man we are trying to identify, to contact police at Strandtown Station on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 1823 of 9 June 2016.

"Alternatively, if you would prefer to provide information without giving your details you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111."
