Large rescue operation launched after woman trapped in Co Antrim cliffs
A woman has been taken to hospital after she became trapped in cliffs in Co Antrim on Sunday evening.
A large scale rescue operation was launched at Layde Church Yard near Cushendall after there was a report of someone trapped in the area.
The woman had fallen over the cliff edge into a crevis and a man who attempted to assist her also got into difficulties.
Fire Crews from Cushendall, Ballymena, Carnlough and specialist rescue firefighters were tasked to the scene.
Coastguard Teams from Ballycastle, Larne and Coleraine attended to extract the woman from the cliff face and the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service sent fast response paramedics to the scene.
The operation concluded around 6pm with the woman being stretchered to a waiting ambulance before being taken to Antrim Area Hospital.
