Limavady man told girl: you'll be in coffin

By Eamonn Macdermott

A Limavady man who told a teenage girl she would end up "in a coffin" has been jailed.

Conor O'Kane (20), of Scroggy Road in the town, admitted threats to kill and threats to damage property charges on December 13 last year.

A court heard yesterday that police received reports from a 16-year-old girl claiming she had received calls from O'Kane in which he told her she would be "in a coffin tonight". He also told her her "house would be bombed up".

When he was arrested, O'Kane denied making the threats but claimed he had received a message accusing him of being a paedophile. Defence counsel Nicola Rountree said her client had "flipped" when the paedophile accusation was made.

O'Kane was sentenced to four months in prison and a restraining order was imposed for a period of two years.
