Lisburn assaults may be linked

Detectives in Lisburn are appealing for information after a report that an elderly man – believed to be in his 80s – was assaulted in the city's Knockmore Square on Wednesday night.

Shortly after 7.35pm, it was reported that the victim was assaulted by an unknown male at a house.

The man was treated for head injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening.

Police are also investigating a report of an assault at a house at Rosslyn Park, also in Lisburn, shortly before 10.30pm on Wednesday.

It was reported that an unknown male approached the house and spoke to a male resident.

It is believed the male resident was assaulted close to the premises, but his injuries are not believed to be serious.

Police are investigating a link between both incidents.
