Lisburn DUP councillor Luke Poots on dangerous driving rap
A DUP councillor is due in court today on a charge of dangerous driving.
Luke Poots (28) will appear at Belfast Magistrates Court.
He faces a single charge relating to an incident on December 7 last year.
He is accused of driving a vehicle dangerously on Grosvenor Road in Belfast.
Mr Poots, of Gardners Road, Lisburn, was co-opted onto the former Lisburn City Council in March 2013.
He was then elected to the new Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council a year later.
The DUP said it was "aware of this matter".
It added that it will be "considered by the party officers".
A farmer, Mr Poots chairs Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council's planning committee and sits on its environmental services committee.
