List of Northern Ireland school closures as snow hits - January 16, 2018

A number of schools have had to close as a result of the snow across Northern Ireland.

There has been treacherous conditions across Northern Ireland on Tuesday as snow hit. Roads became impassable and the Ambulance Service reported 10 crashes by 10.30am.

The Education Authority, which is responsible for the administration of schools said it would be up to each individual school to decide whether or not it should close.

The weather warning for the province has been upgraded to amber.

The schools closed are:

  • Bunscoil Bheanna Boirche, Castlewellan
  • Carnalbanagh Primary School, 1 Glenview Road
  • Cortamlet Primary School
  • Drumadonnell Primary School
  • McKinney Primary School, Crumlin
  • Newtownhamilton Primary School, 8 School Road
  • Newtownhamilton High School
  • St Colman's PS and All Saints' NU Annaclone
  • St Malachy's High School Castlewellan
  • St Mary's Primary School Brookeborough
  • St Mary's Primary School Dechomet in County Down
  • St Michael's Primary School in Newtownhamilton
