Lit firework thrown into Belfast home

By Staff Reporter

A man has escaped injury after a window of a house in south Belfast was smashed and a lit firework tossed into a living room.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses after the incident at a house in Cooke Street early yesterday.

At 3.55am it was reported that the front window was smashed with a brick before the firework was thrown inside. It partially went off, causing smoke damage to the room.

The remains of the item were removed for further examination.

A man in the house at the time was not injured.

Police said they have not established a motive for the attack.
