The living room of a Belfast home was set alight during an arson attack on Friday evening.

Detectives are appealing for information and witnesses following the arson attack on a house in the Daphne Street area.

At approximately 8.40pm police received a report of an incident at the house.

On arrival police discovered that the living room had been set alight. There was no-one in the house at the time.

Detective Sergeant Moffett said: “I would appeal to anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in and around this area or anyone who has information that could assist with police enquiries, to contact detectives at Musgrave on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 1196 14/12/18.

"Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
