A woman whose car plunged into a Fermanagh lake has died.

Unagh Gallogly, a 55-year-old nurse, from Drumquin in Co Tyrone, was taken to hospital after she became trapped in her car when it plunged into the water at Muckross Pier on the Boa Island Road in Kesh at around 10.30pm on Saturday.

Police, the Irish Coastguard, RNLI, fire service and the ambulance service all attended the scene.

Ms Gallogly was described as being in critical condition in hospital on Sunday evening.

However, she sadly died in hospital on Monday morning.

Alistair McCammon was returning by boat with his family from nearby Lusty Beg Island when they came across the incident on Saturday night.

He repeatedly dived underwater in his efforts to save the woman after arriving on the scene. He managed to pull her up and out of the car and dragged her to the shore, where an ambulance had arrived and she was rushed to hospital.
