Rory McIlroy cheered his girlfriend Caroline Wozniacki to victory yesterday at the US Open, and quashed rumours that the world's most eminent sporting couple had split.

Danish tennis star Caroline (23) was playing Chinese opponent Duan Ying-Ying in New York last night and won her match. In the middle of the crowd was her golfer beau Rory (24), happily cheering her along.

It was thought the relationship had ended after the pair, both prolific tweeters and known for sending public messages to each other, appeared to 'divorce' each other on the social network and removed profile pictures which featured them together.

But Caroline took to her Twitter on Sunday night to post an image of them together as her profile picture.
