An elderly man who was in a critical condition after crashing into a police car as he drove the wrong way up the M1 motorway has died.
The 84-year-old collided with the PSNI vehicle in the early hours of Monday, injuring one officer, though not seriously.
The policeman was treated in hospital and was released a short time later, a PSNI spokesman confirmed.
It is understood the pensioner had been driving a Volkswagen Polo the wrong way up the M1 between its junctions at Lurgan and Moira just before 5am, when it struck a stationary police car.
The man had been in a critical condition at Craigavon Area Hospital.
The Police Ombudsman is investigating the incident.
