M2 death crash sister 'stable' in Royal Victoria Hospital

By Rebecca Black

The sister of a man killed in a car crash is recovering in hospital.

The siblings were taken to Antrim Area Hospital on Sunday after the car they were travelling in left the M2 motorway at Dunsilly and careered into trees.

The sister was on Sunday described as being critically ill, while her brother passed away yesterday.

She was transferred to the Royal Victoria Hospital yesterday, where her condition was described as "stable".

The siblings, both believed to be in their 40s, were travelling in a dark grey Vauxhall VX220 sports car when the accident happened around 5.45pm. No other vehicles are believed to have been involved.

The PSNI has urged any witnesses to come forward.

Constable Michael McNee said: "I appeal to anyone who was travelling on the M2 and witnessed the collision close to the Dunsilly on-slip or saw the dark grey Vauxhall VX220 sports car on the M2 prior to the accident to contact the collision investigation unit.

"I also appeal to several significant witnesses who were at the scene and left without passing their details to police to also contact the collision investigation."
