Magherafelt rewinds time for music festival

By Staff Reporter

The first ever Tafelta Festival - the ancient name for Magherafelt - will take place in the town next month.

There will be music and entertainment from August 10 to 12, organised by Mid Ulster District Council in partnership with local businesses after the success of the Christmas market.

Council chair, Councillor Sean McPeake, said he was delighted the council had worked with local hospitality businesses to develop the Tafelta festival.

He said: "This is an excellent example of partnership working which will benefit the entire town and local community.

"The event will undoubtedly bring large crowds to the town, allowing us to showcase the unique retail and hospitality offering Magherafelt is famed for."
