Man (21) arrested following series of break-ins and attempted car thefts in Belfast
A 21-year-old man has been arrested following a series of break-ins and attempted car thefts in Belfast.
He was held after a number of reported crimes in the Ormeau Road area in the early hours of Friday morning.
That included reports of a man armed with a knife entering two homes, as well as causing damage and breaking in to two cars.
PSNI inspector Ray Shaw said: "Between 4am and 4.30am this morning we received calls from residents at two properties, one in Burmah Street and another in Haypark Avenue, who both reported disturbing a male inside their homes.
"The male was believed to have been armed with a knife.
"Officers investigating these reports were then alerted to a male behaving suspiciously in Baroda Parade area at around 5am. Officers responded and arrested a 21-year-old man. Enquiries in the area established that two cars parked on the street had been entered.
"A report of damage to a third vehicle in Delhi Street was received at around 6.15am and officers are investigating a possible link to the other reports.
"The arrested man remains in custody this morning assisting police with their enquiries."
