A man accused of threatening to stab his ex-partner allegedly told police no one would stop him, the High Court heard.
Jonathan Montgomery later claimed his actions were triggered by a failure to take medication for an attention deficit disorder.
But prosecutors opposed his bid to be released on bail, arguing there was an unacceptable level of risk to the woman involved.
Montgomery (22), of Glenkyle Park, Newtownabbey, Co Antrim, faces charges of threatening to kill her and her brother, and breaching a non-molestation order.
The alleged offences are connected to telephone messages sent last week.
Mr Justice Deeney adjourned the bail application until separate proceedings take place next week.
