A 26-year-old man has been charged following a number of attempted robberies in the Ormeau Park area of Belfast on Monday.
The man has been charged with four counts of attempted robbery, possession of a Class B controlled drug and possession of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence.
He is due to appear before Belfast Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday morning.
As is usual procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.
The PSNI confirmed two women were initially targeted by the man armed with the Stanley knife.
The man is reported to have demanded they hand over money before making off when the women refused to.
A man and woman were then targeted later in the evening and left “very shaken” after the suspect demanded they hand over anything of value.
