Man (28) charged after PSNI officer's ankle broken

A man has been charged after a PSNI officer suffered a broken ankle and two others were assaulted after responding to reports of a fight.

The incident unfolded in the Victoria Road area of Carrickfergus around 7.15pm on Tuesday.

One of the men became aggressive and struck out, punching one officer in the face and breaking the other's ankle.

A third suffered cuts and bruises to the face and body.

A 28-year-old man was arrested at the scene and later charged with a number of offences including assault on police, grievous bodily harm and disorderly behaviour.
