Man (28) 'tried to choke girlfriend'

A 28-year-old sales assistant has been charged with intending to render his girlfriend unconscious by attempting to strangle, choke or suffocate her.

Jason Roulston from Clarendon Street, Londonderry, is also charged with assaulting his girlfriend, possession of an offensive weapon (scissors) and cannabis.

He is alleged to have committed the offences on June 23. Judge Barney McElholm was told the case was a domestic violence incident.

It was adjourned until August 23.
