A 38-year-old man was arrested after a teenager received face and eye injures in an attack in Ballymena.

Police said an assault took place outside a food premises at Lower Mill Street on Monday.

Constable Gibney said: “At approximately 3.40pm a 16-year-old male was assaulted and received injuries to his face and eyes which are not believed to be life threatening.  A 38 year old man male was arrested at the scene who has since been bailed pending further enquiries.

"I am appealing that anyone with information contact police at Ballymena on 101 quoting reference CC880 of 12/03/18.  Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
