A 47-year-old man has been charged with a number of offences, including burglary, after a mobility scooter and several other items were stolen from a vulnerable person in north Belfast.

Police confirmed the man has been charged with burglary with intent to steal, handling stolen goods, driving whilst unfit, taking conveyance without authority and using a motor vehicle without insurance.

He is due to appear at Belfast Magistrates Court on Friday 30th July.

As is normal procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.

The charges come after a burglary in the Shore Crescent area of Belfast on Thursday morning, in which a mobility scooter belonging to a vulnerable person was taken.

Police confirmed the scooter and other items stolen have since been returned to the victim.
