Man, 51, faces 1998 murder charge
A man has been charged with the murder of a Belfast man found dead near the border in 1998.
Thomas Lockard, 34, from the Malone Road in the city, was found beaten and stabbed to death in Co Louth.
Police Service of Northern Ireland detectives working with Gardai arrested two men on Tuesday as part of a renewed investigation.
Officers said on Wednesday that they charged a 51-year-old man with murder, kidnap and false imprisonment. He will appear at Belfast magistrates' court on Thursday.
A 52-year-old man was released pending a report to the Public Prosecution Service.
Mr Lockard disappeared from his home in south Belfast on April 25 1998 and his badly beaten body was found two days later at the side of a road at Raskeagh, near Dundalk.
The Police Service of Northern Ireland investigation followed a review of the case by the Garda serious crime review team and gardai in Dundalk.
