Man (58) in critical condition after Belfast assault

A 58-year-old man is critically ill in hospital after being assaulted by at least two men outside his house in south Belfast.

The attack was carried out last Saturday in the Linfield Avenue area at around 9.30pm.

It is believed that the men smashed windows at the house before the assault and that they were armed with a hammer and another unknown object.

One of the men is described as being in his mid 20s, approximately 5ft 11in, and was wearing a dark tracksuit hooded top and a scarf over his face.

The other man is described as being aged in his mid 20s, approximately 5ft 9in, and was wearing a light tracksuit hooded top and dark bottoms.

It is believed that the men made off in the direction of Sandy Row.
