Man (63) held after tractor wrecks house

By Staff Reporter

A man has been arrested after a tractor ploughed into a house in Co Londonderry.

The house in the Cherry Lane area of Feeny was unoccupied on Sunday night when the attack took place. However, major damage was caused by the tractor, which police say was stolen from a nearby building site.

The tractor was later abandoned along the Glenshane Road outside the village.

Yesterday, a 63-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of two counts of theft and criminal damage in relation to the incident. He was taken into custody and police said he was assisting with enquiries yesterday.

Police had described it as "a shocking level of criminal damage".
