Man (70s) injured in struggle with burglars during Rostrevor break-in

A man aged in his 70s has been injured after he found two burglars in his sister's Rostrevor home.

It happened in the Cloughmore Park area on Friday evening at around 7pm.

After a struggle the pair fled the scene on foot with a sum of cash. The man sustained a cut to his head as a result of the incident. His sister, also aged in her 70s, was not injured during the incident.

One of the men is described as being approximately 5’ 7” tall, of stocky build, with short hair and clean shaven. He was wearing a light blue zip up hooded top.

The second male was taller and slimmer.

Police appealed for anyone with information to contact detectives in Ardmore Police Station on 101 quoting reference 1132 of 23/02/18. Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
