Man accused of attempted murder
A Belfast man was remanded in custody yesterday charged with two counts of attempted murder and false imprisonment.
Donald Gallacher (43) is accused of trying to kill Sharon Bowers and Jonathan McCann during an alleged attack in the city on Monday.
He is also charged with unlawfully imprisoning Ms Bowers during the same incident.
Gallacher, of Lower Rockview Street, faces further counts of possessing cocaine and possession with intent to supply.
He spoke only to confirm he understood the charges during an appearance at the city's magistrates' court.
A police officer said he could connect him to the charges.
Bail was not sought, but a defence solicitor confirmed an application would be made in due course.
He said the objections to Gallacher's release were known, and that he hoped to meet these with a psychiatric report. Gallacher was remanded in custody to appear again via video-link next month.
