Man accused of robberies due in court
A 27-year-old man is to appear in Belfast Magistrates Court today on robbery charges after a series of businesses were targeted in the east of the city.
He is charged with two counts of robbery and two counts of attempted robbery.
The man is also charged with three counts of possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear or violence, possession of a class C controlled drug and possession of a class C controlled drug with intent to supply.
The charges are in relation to incidents in the Albertbridge Road area on April 19, Orangefield Lane area on the evening of April 23, and in Beersbridge Road and Westminster Avenue North areas on April 26.
In the last incident, it was reported to police that a man with a suspected firearm had entered a pharmacy and threatened staff before making off with a sum of cash and prescription drugs.
A man was arrested a short time later. Cash, prescription drugs and a BB gun were recovered.
