Man accused of sex attack set strict bail conditions

By Staff Reporter

Strict bail has been agreed for a Co Armagh man accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl.

Thomas Ronald Rowe (58), of Orchard Park, Loughgall, is accused of intentionally sexually touching the child during an alleged incident on July 24.

He was initially remanded in custody and appeared yesterday by video-link at Armagh Magistrates Court, where a defence barrister said bail has been agreed, but is not yet in place.

The bail conditions include a ban on Rowe contacting the complainant by any means and he must have no unsupervised contact with persons aged under 18. He is also to refrain from entering a specified area of Loughgall and reside at an address approved by police.

The defence said the address condition has delayed his client's release, adding progress was being made to obtain suitable accommodation.

District Judge Desmond Perry adjourned the case for mention on August 28, with Rowe to appear in person if bail has been achieved or by video-link.
