Man and dog flee 'suspicious' caravan fire
A man and his dog had a lucky escape after a fire gutted a caravan in Co Down.
The blaze took hold at the mobile home on Ballyblack Road in Newtownards and was reported at 10pm on Wednesday. Police are treating it as suspicious.
Detective Constable Clare Killen said: "The caravan was completely destroyed by the blaze and a man and a dog who were inside at the time were lucky to escape unhurt.
"I would appeal to anyone who has information about this incident to contact police in Newtownards on the non-emergency number 101."
Strangford Alliance MLA Kellie Armstrong said: "This was a terrible incident.
"Thank goodness there was no loss of life."
