A man and a woman arrested in connection with the murder of Michael McGibbon have been released by police.

Both aged 35, they were arrested in the north of the city and taken to Musgrave police station for questioning on Wednesday morning.

They were later released unconditionally.

Mr McGibbon, (33) died after he was shot several times in the leg in north Belfast in April.

He was ordered to go to an alleyway in Ardoyne and met men who are believed to be paramilitaries.

The father-of-four bled to death in the arms of his wife Joanne just yards from their family home.

Dissident republicans were blamed for the killing.
