Man and woman held over murder of ex-UDA commander Geordie Gilmore released

A 37-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman arrested in connection with the murder of ex-UDA commander George 'Geordie' Gilmore have been released.

The arrests were made in the Carrickfergus area on Wednesday and the pair were held in Musgrave Serious Crime Suite.

On Thursday police said the female has been released unconditionally, and the male has been released pending a report to the PPS..

Former UDA commander Gilmore died after being hit in the neck, torso and leg when shots were fired into his car on the Woodburn estate on March 13.

He died in hospital the following day.

Anyone who was in the area at the time of the shooting or who witnessed the attack is urged to contact the police incident room on 028 90259542.
