Man armed with a knife robs cigarettes from Belfast delivery driver

A man armed with a knife stole 60 cartons of cigarettes from a delivery driver in Belfast city centre on Friday morning.

The robbery took place on North Queen Street shortly before 9am on Friday.

The man stole 50-60 cartons of cigarettes from a from a lorry making a delivery to a shop before fleeing over a nearby bridge towards Carlisle Parade.

The lorry driver and his helper were not injured.

Detective Sergeant Keith Wilson said the suspect has been described as around 5ft 10ins, aged in his early thirties, of stocky build and a round, tanned face with a Belfast accent.

He was wearing a black baseball cap, a dark zip-up top and grey tracksuit bottoms.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and saw anyone matching this description, or anyone who can provide any information that could assist in the investigation, to contact detectives at Musgrave Reactive and Organised Crime on 101 quoting reference number 267 of 17th June," he said.
