Man armed with a knife tries to rob Belfast shop

A man armed with a knife has tried to rob a shop in south Belfast.

I happened at around 9pm on the Ormeau Road.

PSNI Detective Inspector Paul Rowland said; “At approximately 8.55pm a male entered the convenience store armed with a knife.

"Detectives are conducting enquiries and are requesting the public’s assistance to help determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

"In particular, we are appealing for information regarding the suspect who is described as being approximately 5’7” tall, of skinny build, aged in his late 30s, wearing a long grey hooded top, dark jeans and white trainers. He spoke with a local Belfast accent."

He has appealed for information.
