Man armed with crossbow robs shop in east Belfast

Detectives are investigating a robbery at a shop on the Newtownards Road in east Belfast.

Police said that shortly before 9.10am on Saturday a man armed with a crossbow, entered the shop and threatened members of staff before making off with a sum of cash.

He was wearing a camouflage jacket, blue jeans and trainers. Staff were not injured during the incident.

Detective Sergeant Keith Wilson has appealed for anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with any information that will assist the investigation to contact the PSNI at Musgrave Police Station on the non-emergency number 101.

Information can also be passed anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
