Man armed with knife steals cash from shop in Belfast

Detectives have appealed for witnesses following a robbery in the Beersbridge Road area of Belfast.

The incident happened at around 5.40pm on Thursday, when a man entered the premises armed with a knife.

He approached the counter, demanded a member of staff open a till, and then took cash.

It is believed he fled the scene on foot.

Detective Sergeant Moffett would appeal to anyone who was in the area of the Beersbridge Road, Belfast at this time and noticed anyone acting suspiciously to contact Detectives at Musgrave Criminal Investigation Branch on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 1035 28/12/17.

Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.
