A 49-year-old man has been arrested after an attempted hijacking of a car with a woman and two children inside in Londonderry.

The incident happened in the Ballymagroarty area at around 12.50am on Thursday.

Police received a report of a man entering the driver's seat of a car while a woman was in the passenger seat and two children were in the rear seats.
