Man arrested after driver in Cookstown has seizure

By Staff Reporter

Police have arrested a 37-year-old man after a reported road rage attack in which a driver had a seizure.

Police said they are now treating the incident as a hate crime.

Paramedics were called on Saturday after a 34-year-old man was reported to be having a fit in Orritor Street, Cookstown, at around 4.35pm.

Police had said the victim, the driver of a Vauxhall Vectra, was involved in a verbal altercation with another driver, driving a black Audi A4, in Coagh Street.

Both then exited their vehicles in Orritor Street.

The Audi driver is believed to have punched the victim, causing him to lose consciousness and subsequently have a seizure.

The PSNI said the assailant left the scene prior to the arrival of the emergency services.
